Alright so I was and am about to Post about my beloved (by everyone but Roger Goodel) Saints but I needed to post this first
I just finished watching the Tebow "backup QB" Press Conference. I get how silly it seems to some people because it is our backup QB. By the way, I like how everyone that is up in arms about Tebow and his coming here being such a big deal, don't think he should have had a press conference to address it. Stupid haters. Love him or hate him, he is one of the most popular players in the league and if he was coming here to satisfy Rex Ryan's foot fetish, we should have a press conference. Now on to the matter at hand.
If you missed this Press Conference, you missed Tim say about a million times he's "happy to be a Jet", which i felt he actually was, but i am sure is the default he set for himself before going in to this conference "when in doubt tell them you are happy to be here". After this press conference everyone is killin this guy. HATERS!
Tebow addressed the fact he has been going to a knee for prayer before games and after a TD for 7 years. He also mentioned, there have been millions of players doing it before him and are presently still doing it, but for some reason it is refereed to as "Tebowing" and is mimicked everywhere. He seemed as shocked as the next guy about it and confused
He mentioned he knows he needs to earn the respect from his new teammates in the locker room. Hard work in practice and being an encouraging teammate and not just expecting it are some of the ways he mentioned he will accomplish this. He doesn't mention on the field play because he does not want to start a controversy about the Starting QB position and after the announcers mock him for not saying "on the field play" and "being a leader" as ways of getting respect. Why does everyone contradict themselves?
He gets asked to explain his beliefs in detail because the joker in the crowd "is not sure of his stance" and he tells him that this is not the time and place for that. It is a Jet News Conference about football and that what they should be focused on but he follows Jesus and his teaching and is Christian and leave it at that. No one mentions how focused that was after the Conference.
And most of all, he talks about his charity work and how he is going to continue it in New York. How he thinks it is important for him to be a role model considering the position he is in as a football player. He tells a story about how when he was a kid, he waited in line for an autograph. He was about the 150th kid in line to get Danny Wuerffel Autograph and Danny signed every kid's Autograph that day. It meant a lot with him and stuck with him. It helped him realize how important something like that is to children. Things he does, things all football players do make an impression on kids. He takes being a role model serious. I guess that's not important enough to mention because i see so many sports players thinking like that these days.
Maybe I didn't make myself clear....HE SAYS SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND ALL ANYONE WANTS TO MENTION IS HOW MANY TIMES HE SAID "I'M JUST HAPPY TO BE A JET AND HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY". Now who has their priority's mixed up. Pay attention here folks. The Jets got a Class Act here and if your hate (for whatever reason) for Tim Tebow overshadows that fact, your no better then a REDSOX or PHILLY FAN. Yeah, that statement opened some eyes and ears huh. Think about that for a while. #TEBOWINGRIGHTNOW
